I’ve seen countless people massively shift their levels of performance. And I’ve seen countless fail to change anything at all.
The latter end up mediocre, miserable and resentful. The former ends up free, successful, and satisfied.
Which camp you fall into is not down to luck. It’s down to your choices.
There are five choices adventurepreneurs make time and time again which ensure mediocrity. Today, I will help you identify which you make.
Mistake 1: Consume More Than Do
Put down the book. Unplug the podcast. Stop watching the video.
You’re not going to learn what you need to learn without action.
You know enough already.
Go out there and do.
Mistake 2: Imitate
You are not everyone else.
Your psychological makeup is different.
Your biology is different.
Your character is different.
Your skill set and your performance are unique to you.
So why would you follow the same thing as everyone else.
You need specificity, not generality.
Especially when you’re aiming at something truly exceptional.
Mistake 3: Shiny Object
Ice baths are in fashion. Same with 4am wake times.
So are psychedelics and myriad other things.
It’s highly unlikely that the new shiny object is your silver bullet
By constantly chasing silver bullets, you deny your work the opportunity to work on you.
Put the reps in.
Stop getting distracted.
Mistake 4: All woo-woo
You won’t manifest success without work.
The Secret is bullshit.
You need discipline. You need work. You need resilience but…
Mistake 5: Only Using Discipline
Most high achievers don’t fall into the first camp.
They fall into using discipline as the only tool they have.
They try to force themselves back to high performance.
When really they need some self-compassion, patience, and wisdom.
Which ironically increases their output over time.
